One of the worst things you can do in life is live as a victim. I am always amazed at stories of people who are faced with extremely tough situations, such as a disabling injury or sickness, and yet, they persevere to live life as normally as possible and find a way to keep a smile on their faces. John Wooden, the famous basketball coach, said you are not a loser until you blame someone else. My biggest concern with President Obama and the Democratic Party in general is that they are constantly telling us we are victims. When oil prices were high, we were the victim of those greedy oil companies. We were told everything would be better once we were no longer victims of President Bush. For years, they have been telling the African-American community that they are victims of racism. Now, we are the victims of those terrible insurance companies, and if we can just get rid of them, everything will be OK. We are all faced with tough obstacles in life. If you are counting on government to be the solution to your problems, you probably always will be a victim. Jim Minton
